WHAT IS FSC®
It is an acronym in English for the words Forest Stewardship Council. It is the most recognized green seal in the world, with a presence in more than 70 countries on all continents. Currently, certified products generate business in the order of billions of dollars per year worldwide.
HOW IT CAME ABOUT
The Council was created as a result of an initiative for environmental conservation and responsible development of forests around the world. Its objective is to promote the rational use of forests, ensuring their long-term existence. To achieve this objective, FSC® created a set of internationally recognized rules, called Principles and Criteria, which reconcile ecological safeguards with social benefits and economic viability, and are the same for all countries. Any food packaging must be produced under strict cleaning, safety and hygiene standards, as Apolo Embalagens does with extreme care, but this alone is not enough to accredit a product as recommended; it must also use raw materials from environmentally responsible forests. Therefore, its preferred suppliers are those that produce raw materials under FSC® Certification. When purchasing Apolo Embalagens products, you bring to your company the certainty of highly reliable quality, and pass on to your customers food stored in perfect conditions of safety, hygiene and environmental responsibility.
WHY SHOULD YOUR PACKAGING HAVE THE FSC® LABEL?
The FSC® seal guarantees that the wood used in a given product, such as cardboard packaging, comes from a production process managed in an ecologically appropriate, socially fair and economically viable manner, and in compliance with all applicable laws. The seal is a guarantee of origin that also serves to guide wholesale or retail buyers in choosing a differentiated product with added value, capable of winning over a more demanding public and, thus, opening new markets. At the same time, it allows conscious consumers to choose a product that does not degrade the environment and contributes to the social and economic development of forest communities.
